Thursday 30th October 2008

The day started cold and clear as we headed into Coire an t-sneachda.

Danny and I headed up onto the Mess of Pottage. There was an Aberdeen team also enjoying the cold early season conditions.

From midday onwards the cloud dropped and we had lots of snowfall on a north easterly breeze.

Snow at sea level

Here in Inverness we had a hard frost and blue skies to start the day.

Now there is heavy snow and blizzard conditons at sea level.

Take care if you decide to venture out into the hills. There are treacherous driving conditions on many roads in the highlands.

Lots of snow!

With snow down to 400m this morning the ski road to Cairngorm was closed.

Danny and I had a wee walk up onto a very snowy Meall a' Bhuachaille where the summit cairn at 810m was well rimed.

The team below El Cap in Yosemite

Just back from a climbing trip to Yosemite Valley in California.

We had a great time free climbing and aid climbing on El Capitan, Half Dome, The Cathedrals and many other crags in the Valley.

It looks like winter has already arrived here in the Scottish Highlands with fresh snow on Ben Nevis and in the Cairngorms.
