It's best in the West
Last week it really was best in the West, specifically the North West of Scotland. With a high pressure sitting just off the NW corner of Scotland it meant some cold NE winds and a haar (sea mist) on the Aberdeenshire and Morayshire coasts while the far NW enjoyed several days of unbroken sunshine.
I was on holiday with Amy cycling up the Western Isles. There were folk out rock climbing last week enjoying the excellent weather in Torridon, Gairloch and Reiff. |

Hill Skills Training in Sutherland
Today I was up in the Sutherland hills with a team from the RSPB. The RSPB Bird Surveyors from Forsinard were out with me for some training in the hills.
We had some dry windy weather on Ben Griam Mor in the Far North East of Scotland to look at navigation techniques, route finding, emergency procedures and other top tips for staying safe in the hills for the next 3 months while they are surveying the SSSI's across Sutherland. |

Sunshine in Glen Shiel
Today I was out in the hills north of Loch Cluanie with Janus and Donald.
There was a strong SW wind and plenty of sunshine. There is still some soft snow on the summits and around the corrie rims. |

April Showers
During the high pressure this week I was out with Ben in the Rothiemurchus Eastate. We had fine warm weather for the photography shoots that Ben had to do.
This weekend however a low pressure to the north of Scotland will bring bands of rain across Scotland from the west. There looks like there could be a chance of snow on the tops too. |
