Clear and Still on An Teallach
After the front moved south early this morning it really cleared up on An Teallach.
Donald and I headed into Toll an Lochain below Sgurr Fiona. There was a fresh dusting of snow from last night but a lot of the snow gullies are incomplete after the last big thaw. We explored the right side of the corrie and headed up to the bealach south west of Bidean a' Ghlas Thuill. We traversed the ridge northwards and then dropped into Glas Tholl for some more exploring.
There were also another couple out climbing up North Gully in Glas Tholl which looked like one of the few gullies which was complete. |

Sunshine and blue skies in the hills
After last weeks big thaw a high pressure has now brought fine cold clear weather to much of the highlands.
I was out today for a wee wander in the Monadhliath Mountains. From amongst these hills to the north of Newtonmore I had some great views in all directions under a blue cloudless sky.
The snow level has receded but there is good cover above 800m and the cold air is starting to form a layer of surface hoar. |
