Winter returns to the mountains

After a week of warm dry weather we were very glad to see the fresh snow down to 400m in Glencoe this weekend. I was out with the Edinburgh College Climbing Club teaching winter skills in my role as St John Scotland Mountain Safety Instructor.
We went up the munros on Buachaille Etive Beag on the Saturday and found enough old snow to practice some winter skills. On the Sunday we traversed Stob Coire nan Lochan. Wintry at last

After 4 days of working in the North West Highlands finally today was cold and snowy. I was working for Moran Mountains on his New Year course.
We had mild conditions on 3 days with lots of rain and wind too. We climbed and navigated on the Applecross peninsula, scrambled on Skye and did some dry tooling but the highlight was the pleasant winter day out on Beinn Bhan today.
