University of Edinburgh Mountaineering Club winter weekend
Over the weekend I was working in the Cairngorms with the University of Edinburgh Mountaineering Club. On Saturday the weather was very kind to us with sub zero temperatures, sunshine and no wind. We made a tour of the northern coires practicing our navigation, route finding and other winter skills including using an ice axe and cramponing. On Sunday I had a different group of students and although we did a similar route it couldn't have been more different with strong north westerly winds and many snow showers. Facebook photo album here: Some Facebook photos. I was working as the St John Scotland Mountain Safety Instructor this weekend. |
