University of St Andrews Mountaineering Club winter weekend

Just back from working in Glencoe with the University of St Andrews Mountaineering Club.
On Saturday it was warm, windy and very wet. We did as much indoor skills as we could and finally headed out in the afternoon to climb the Pap of Glencoe. By the afternoon the wind and rain had abated.
On Sunday we woke to fresh snow down to 300m and a cold NW breeze. We had some snow showers but also some glimpses of sun and some great views as we climbed the Pink Rib on Beinn a' Chrulaiste.

University of Edinburgh Mountaineering Club winter weekend

Over the weekend I was working in the Cairngorms with the University of Edinburgh Mountaineering Club.
On Saturday the weather was very kind to us with sub zero temperatures, sunshine and no wind. We made a tour of the northern coires practicing our navigation, route finding and other winter skills including using an ice axe and cramponing.
On Sunday I had a different group of students and although we did a similar route it couldn't have been more different with strong north westerly winds and many snow showers.

Yorkshire Gritstone bouldering

After an excellent festive period both in Scotland and down in Yorkshire, Jack and I managed to grab a few hours on the 1st of January at Crookrise in some perfect cool sunny conditions.
