Jonas climbing at Kingussie

Rock climbing at Kingussie

Today I was out climbing at Kingussie Crag with Jonas and Joel. We got a few routes done before the rain arrived.

It was very warm and humid to start the day and there were a few other climbers out climbing.

After the torrential rain at lunch time we headed up onto Creag Bheag for a walk instead.

Kenny starting up the second 6a pitch on The Spire

Fantastic day of climbing on Shelter Stone

I was back in the Loch A'an basin again today. This time with Kenny. It was a lot warmer and a lot busier with 3 other teams on The Shelter Stone.

We decided to head for The Spire. This E4 starts partway up the buttress so we climbed the 1st 2 pitches of The Steeple to warm up and then climbed this great route which involves 2 hard pitches followed by 2 easier pitches.

The route was a bit dirty as it probably hasn't been climbed since winter til today. Both hard pitches are brilliant with the first pitch being quite sustained and the second pitch with a hard crux.

Looking up at Shelter Stone with Dunc

Dry on Shelter Stone

Dunc and I headed into Loch A'an basin today to have a look at shelter Stone. As we hadn't spoken to anyone who had been in recently it was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off.

We had a great day climbing Haystack which takes a central line up the front of the buttress. It started very windy and cold but after we got up on to the steeper ground we were finally a bit more sheltered and then the wind dropped in the afternoon.

On the walk out it was really hot in the evening sun. A beautiful day for a mountain route.

Steve climbing at Logie Head

Avoiding the rain at Logie Head yesterday

Steve and I drove east to avoid the impending rain that was heading across the country from the west.

We had a great day climbing at Logie Head. After climbing on the Embankments we tried to head over to the Star Zone. But after getting dive bombed by Herring gulls we decided to head for the Pinnacle Area instead.

I had never climbed on the Pinnacle before but thought it was excellent. The routes are longer than the other areas and give great climbing on big holds on a steep wall.
