A great day out sea cliff climbing
Yesterday Mike and I headed to Elgol to climb on the sea cliff Suidhe Biorach. Having climbed at Neist and Kilt Rock I knew Skye had some great sea cliff climbing. This venue is yet another great spot with some fabulous climbing in a beautiful setting.
A 25m abseil from Paradise Ledge gives access to about 2 dozen routes from VS to E6. Many of the routes have 2 or 3 stars and I'd say some deserve more.
If you get on Mother's Pride I'd recommend doing it in 1 pitch as Gary Latter says rather than 2 as the SMC guide says. It's wild! |

A weekend on Skye
The last three days I have been working on Skye. Today we did the classic Clach Glas-Blaven traverse. The weather was mixed with sun, cloud and the odd shower but not as windy and cold as the last 2 days.
On Saturday we did the Dubh Slabs with Mike, Dougal and myself guiding and a big team of 6 clients. On Friday Mike and I took 2 teams of 2 up Window Buttres. It was dry but cold in the strong northerly wind.
I was working for Rob the last 3 days |

Work and play in the NW Highlands
Yesterday I was out working on the hill with Geraint and Alex on Skye. We had a great day on the classic round of Corrie Lagan ending with the Inaccessible Pinnacle. It was a cool dry day with little sunshine but no rain.
The previous day Rich and I were out climbing on the Loch Tollaidh Crags. We did several routes on a few different crags. Many of the 3 star routes are suffering from a wee bit of dirt and lose rock and could do with a bit more traffic. "So get over there and climb them, they are great!" |

Back on the Ben
Today I was working on Ben Nevis with Tim and Neil.
We climbed Ledge Route and although there were a few other folk around climbing the classic Ben ridges it was nothing compared to the crowds on the Tourist Route.
It was quite cold in the north easterly breeze and we had a couple of light snow flurries. I was working for Mike today |
