Andy and I enjoyed a windy day out on The Vagrant. We descended The Couloir which was complete with snow.
We saw another team on Auricle on Number 1 buttress.

After the thaw of the last 2 days the buttresses in Coire an Lochain were looking very black.
The temperature this morning at 900m was 4°C.
Through the day the temperature dropped and by 3pm it was 2°C at 400m and snowing heavily. |

Steve and I had a great day on Hooker's Corner. The temperature didn't get above -5 today. Pete and partner enjoyed The Migrant while Rich and partner had a "harrowing" time on Prore.
There were also teams out on Finger's Ridge, Pygmy Ridge and The Message.
I've put some more videos on You Tube which can be accessed by clicking on the 2 photos to the left. |

It was a beautiful day to be in the mountains today. There was an inversion in the Northern Corries.
There was rime on a lot of the buttresses and there were teams out on the Mess of Pottage, Fiacail Buttress and Ewen Buttress.
I've now put some videos on You Tube which can be accessed by clicking on the 2 photos to the left. |

This week I have been exploring Orkney. There are some amazing sea cliffs on lots of the islands.
Although there was some snow in the Cairngorms earlier this week it has really warmed up now. But it isn't quite warm or dry enough to climb these sea stacks!
The photos here of the sea stacks were taken this week, but the best time of year to climb them would be May or June. |
