Loads of snow

After a cold start to the month, November has been quite mild. However, over the weekend the winds have come out of the north and there has been snow falling down to 200m in the North East.

Today I waded into the Northern corries with Steve. In sub zero temperatures and very light winds (unlike the forecast) we swam up Invernookie in Coire an T-Sneachda. This route is a good introduction to mixed winter climbing.

We could hear others in the corrie but with very low cloud and low visibilty we couldn't see what they were on. It seems this weekend has been busy with folk ticking the classics. Di and Jon did Magic Crack on Friday, and Gaz and Alex did Route Major over on Carn Etchachan on Saturday.

Clear nights and frosty mornings

With a high pressure over Scandanavia edging into NE Scotland we have had a fantasic weekend of sunshine and blue skies.

The last couple of nights have been clear with sub zero temperatures. This has meant a gound frost and icy roads and a cooling of the ground which is great prior to winter.
